A 22-year-old call centre employee died in after an accident here with his family alleging the youth lost his life as "precious time" was wasted in taking him to hospital due to two police stations "fighting" over jurisdiction.

Vicky was on his way to his office on Saturday night when his motorcycle rammed into a truck from behind in Patel Nagar, police said on Sunday.

His family alleged that a call was made to police immediately after the incident but officers at Patel Nagar and Naraina police stations refused to take the victim to the hospital as they were fighting over jurisdiction of the incident.

Each station said the incident took place in jurisdiction area of the other police station, Vicky's family said.

They claimed that Vicky was then taken to a near-by hospital by passers-by and family members where hospital authorities refused to admit him asking why police did not accompany them.

After heated arguments, the victim was taken Kalra Hospital in Patel Nagar where he succumbed to the injuries, they said.

"Precious time was wasted by the policemen by fighting over the jurisdiction and our boy died. If police had taken him to hospital, he could have been saved," a family member said.

However, a senior police officer denied the allegation and said Patel Nagar police station was handling the case since the moment they got the information about the accident.

"There was no dispute between officers of the two police stations. The boy died on the spot," the official added.

A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
