The Delhi High Court has sentenced two persons to life imprisonment for kidnapping a
three-year-old child of their former employer for ransom six year ago.

A division bench headed by Justice Pradeep Nadrajog upheld the trial court findings while convicting Sri Om and Khalid Ahmed.

"...As long as the caller intends that the ransom call to be conveyed to the person concerned and as long as it is proved that the call was conveyed it to the concerned person, it would be sufficient to attract section 364-A IPC (kidnap for ransom)," the court said on Thursday.

According to the prosecution, Anand Prasad's son Abhishek was kidnapped by Kalim Ahmed, former employee of Prasad, along with Om in May 2002. After receiving a ransom call from the accused demanding Rs 50,000, Anand Prakash registered a complaint with police.

On May 5, 2002 the boy was rescued by Delhi Police from the clutches of kidnappers.
