No manuscripts from Golden Temple remaining with Army: Antony

Defence minister AK Antony on Wednesday, denied that the Army possessed any manuscripts or articles from the Golden Temple recovered by it during the Operation Blue Star in Amritsar in 1984.

"The Army does not possess any of the manuscripts/articles recovered from the Golden temple during the Operation Blue Star and the representative of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) has also certified that they have no further claim on the Army or the Government," Antony said while replying to a query in Rajya Sabha.

He said that various Sikh organisations had approached the Government with similar requests in the past but all books, documents and miscellaneous items recovered from the Golden temple premises have been handed over to the SGPC, Amritsar and its functionaries, Curator museum, Punjab Government treasurer, Department of Cultural Affairs, Chandigarh and Central bureau of Investigation, New Delhi.
