The shores of the Bhopal's Upper Lake are playing host to Bollywood stars as noted film maker Prakash Jha is shooting his latest film Rajneeti here.

Film stars Ajay Devgan, Ranbir Kapoor, Nasiruddin Shah, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Vajpayee, Nana Patekar, Katrina Kaif and Vivek Oberoi are in the city for the shooting of the film.

Jha said he had come to Bhopal for the first time in 1997 for the promotion of his film Mrityudand which featured Madhuri Dixit, Om Puri and Ayub Khan.

Jha was impressed by the beauty of the city even then and decided to return to the city to shoot his next film. Jha has come to Bhopal with his entire unit to shoot Rajneeti.

Jha said Bhopal now has big hotels and good approach roads and that in the coming days, he may shoot at other locations in Madhya Pradesh.

The film is based on Indian politics and depicts the tug of war between two fictitious political parties Prajatantrik Party and Jan Shakti Party.

Bhopal has an old association with films and old timers recall that thespian Dilip Kumar's Naya Daur was also shot in and around Bhopal.

Rashid Aziz, an elderly citizen of Bhopal, said at that time there was a huge craze to get a glimpse of Dilip Kumar.

Singer Sudha Malhotra had shot a song for the film Andolan with Kishore Kumar.     Jagdeep had made Bhopal famous by portraying the character of Soorma Bhopali in Ramesh Sippy's blockbuster film Sholay.

Jagdeep had later shot the title song of his film Soorma Bhopali in the city but it did not fare well at the box-office.

Movies like Gulzar's Hu Tu Tu, Maqbool, starring Pankaj Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri and Ram Gopal Verma's Shool have also been filmed in the city.

The natural beauty and Nawabi culture of Bhopal attracts film-makers who do not face a bad law and order situation here, Jha said.
