Agitating secondary-level students of city's Sahajanand school's English medium section, who went on a strike on Saturday against their principal, stopped teaching activities on the school premises in the morning. They alleged of being "fed up" of Raghuvir Sharma, in-charge principal of the school, "who abuses them very often and beats them brutally". Even parents of some of the students came forward to stop the alleged harassment of their wards.

Students did not enter their classrooms in the morning and raised slogans against Sharma till representatives of the school management arrived for discussions. The management assured the agitating students and parents of taking appropriate decision by Monday. Meanwhile, the school's management has also decided to take action against the errant principal.

According to the sources present in the meeting with students and parents, it has been decided that since Sharma is an in-charge principal, he can be replaced by other senior teachers for the post. Official announcement for a new principal will be made on Monday, sources said.

"Actually, Sharma is a senior teacher and had joined the school after he was declared surplus in other schools," said a trustee on condition of anonymity, adding that though Sharma is strict, he has not beaten or harassed any student as has been portrayed. "But still the trustees will meet on Sunday to discuss the issue and Sharma is likely to be removed from the post of in-charge principal and other senior will be given the charge," he said.

The trustee also said that it is part of internal politics amongst teachers in the school on matters regarding tuitions related activities. Ours being a government-aided school, teachers draw salary from the government. Therefore, they do not bother much about the school's management."

Levelling accusations on Sharma of mercilessly beating up students without checking the facts, Chirag Makhija, a Standard 9 student said, "Last week the principal suddenly came in to our class while some students were laughing. He pulled me up and beat me in front of my class alleging that I was laughing. Actually I was not and was seating on the bench quietly. He hit my head on the iron grill of the class and I received severe injuries on my head."

Zeel Vaidya, another ninth standard student echoed Chirag's sentiments and said that the principal hit on the leg on which he had reveived injuries from an accident, which Sharma was allegedly aware of. Zeel also said that Sharma is always "insulting" the students.
