Doctors say Singh, who has had a bypass surgery in the past, will have to undergo angioplasty to clear fresh blockages in his arteries. Some Congressmen fear that he may not be allowed to attend the Republic Day parade because of his health, though cardiologists DNA spoke to saw no problem in this.

An AIIMS source said it depended on the extent of the blockages and the PM’s response to the heart procedure he was undergoing.

The prime minister was put through a series of tests at the premier institute on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Singh has a history of heart related problems. He has undergone a bypass surgery and an angioplasty earlier. According to his doctors, Singh also underwent an eye surgery and has also been battling diabetes and minor problems like cervical spondylosis.
