Union health minister Anbumani Ramadoss must be smiling. Because actors Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan are likely to be booked by police for smoking at public places.
Devgan courted trouble by smoking in the corridor of Chandigarh airport on Tuesday. Local newspapers carried photos showing him puffing, prompting an NGO, the Burning Brain Society, to file a complaint against him. A team of Chandigarh police questioned Devgan at his hotel on Wednesday in this regard.
Hemant Goswami, chairperson of Burning Brain Society, said: “We have filed a complaint with SSP Sudhanshu Srivastava against Devgan after spotting his pictures in the newspapers on Wednesday.”
Confirming that a complaint had been filed, Srivastava said action would be taken as per law — Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act. Chandigarh is a smoke-free city.
Another complaint was filed against Devgan and Khan with the government railway police at Kurali, near Chandigarh, after both the stars were spotted smoking on the platform between the shoots.
The complainant is again Goswami, a member of the national steering committee on tobacco control.
