LUCKNOW: The family of the Uttar Pradesh public works department engineer who was allegedly lynched by a BSP legislator and his goons has turned down the compensation of Rs5,00,000 offered by chief minister Mayawati.
"In any case, I will not accept the grant being offered for the life of my father," Prateek Pranjal, son of the late MK Gupta, said today.
A software engineer in Bangalore, Pranjal has come to his parental home in Lakhimpur in the wake of his father’s killing.
Gupta was allegedly lynched for refusing to contribute to a fund-raising drive for Mayawati’s birthday bash on January 15.
