Despite the recent terror attacks in Mumbai, Mood Indigo, Asia’s largest international college festival, witnessed more than 75,000 footfalls this year, its largest turnout ever.
IIT-Bombay’s four-day festival ended on Tuesday with fun and vigour. According to the organisers, it was the biggest Mood-I ever.

Compared to last year’s footfalls of 60,000, this year, the turnout was much higher, said Neeraj Jain, a media coordinator. The global recession and Mumbai’s terror attacks did not seem to have affected participants and organisers.

Though one of the performances, by Pakistani band Junoon, was called off after the attacks, almost all other international events took place as scheduled. “The decision was mutual,” said one of the officials at IIT-B.

However, singer Rabbi Shergill and the band Indian Ocean were big musical draws, and their performances attracted a huge crowd, one of the participants said.

This year, the festival hosted nine big events, including a fashion show, the winner of which will get direct entry into the semi-finals of the Pantaloon Miss India pageant. The winners of one of the acting events will get a break in a Hindi film.
