Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh was unfazed by the inclusion of his name in the Clinton Foundation's list of big donors. He told DNA that he does not have a foreign account. "So how could I have made the donation?" he said.

He said if someone else had made the donation in his name, it was up to the US government to find out.

He said senator Hillary Clinton is a personal friend with whom he is in regular touch. "I spoke to her on Thursday," he said. "She told me not to worry about US newspaper reports. I told her I was only concerned about Indian newspapers, not US newspapers."

Singh acknowledged that he had flown to New York in September for a day to meet Hillary Clinton. He met her at her farm on the outskirts of New York City. "I had not met her for some time and I felt I should be with her because she had just lost the Democratic nomination," he said. "I became her friend when she was not in power and I continue to be her friend."
