HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Communist Party of India will jointly organise political congregations in all districts of Andhra Pradesh from December 25 to January 2 appealing people to vote out Congress in 2009 elections.
The three parties chalked out the programme at a breakfast meeting hosted by TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu for CPI and CPM leaders at his residence today, the first such meeting after the two Left parties formalised their alliances with his party.
State secretaries of CPM and CPI, B V Raghavulu and K Narayana, and other senior leaders of the three parties attended the meeting.
Among other things, the three parties discussed the moves of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and hoped that the pro-Telangana outfit would ultimately join hands with them.
"It was basically a political review and we have not discussed anything about seat-sharing," Chandrababu said after the meeting.
Raghavulu said the objective of the political congregations was to lambast the anti-people's policies of the Y S Rajasekhara Reddy government.
"Corruption has reached unprecedented levels in Andhra Pradesh in the last four-and-a-half years. Thousands of acres of agricultural land was forcibly acquired from hapless farmers and handed over on a platter to rich industrialists. Life of common people has turned miserable under the Congress rule. We shall expose this and urge people to rid the state of the misrule," Raghavulu said.
The issue of seat-sharing would be discussed at a later stage, the leaders said.
