Come December 2, and Dr Radhike Khanna will be bestowed with the NCPEDP- Shell Helen Keller Award 2008 in Delhi for her work in the field of autistic and mentally challenged.
Radhike is a trustee of Shraddha Charitable Trust which runs a shelter-cum-rehabilitation centre for predominantly mentally autistic young adults with moderate and severe mental retardation.
Within nine years of its operation from a small garage owned by one of the parents to shifting to the BMC-leased premises at Mahalaxmi, they have slowly and steadily progressed.
The Trust is also trying to get these special children into the mainstream of society so that they can lead a life of dignity.
