CHENNAI: The security provided to different star hotels in suburban Chennai, which came under a security threat following the Mumbai terror attacks was only "temporary" and they should make their own arrangements, a top police official said here on Monday.

"Right now, armed policemen have been posted at the hotels... however, that is only temporary and the management of these hotels must make their own arrangements in future," suburban Police Commissioner S R Jangid said.

However, Jangid did not specify for how long the armed policemen would be posted at the hotels.

Following the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) had warned of possible terror attacks at airports in Chennai, Bangalore and Delhi.

The BCAS had also said that terrorists could either target or stay in three star hotels -- Radisson, Trident and Le Royal Meridien- all located close to the airport, following which the suburban commissionerate provided security to these hotels.
