French national found dead in Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH: A 55-year-old French national was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a private guesthouse in an upscale area of the city late Sunday, the police said on Monday.

"Harbert Garnier, had come to the city for conducting a survey for Max India company and was staying at the guesthouse in Sector 5, which was taken on lease by the company. He was found dead in his room by a guesthouse attendant," Har Sahai Sharma, investigating officer of the case said.

"After the preliminary examination, doctors said that there is a possibility of heart attack. The body has been kept at the General Hospital here for postmortem. We have informed the French Embassy in New Delhi about the incident," said Sharma.
