The Doors star comes alive yet again on his 65th birthday

Jim Morrison would have been 65 today. But even today, he exudes the image of being ‘oh so cool’ and ‘zonked out on god knows what!’ to this generation.

We all know he would have rocked even at 65 if he had been alive. And this year’s Sundance festival, which has a line up of interesting rock ‘n roll and music-themed movies, will pay a tribute to the rock n roll star.

The festival will screen When You’re Strange — a documentary about The Doors from Living in Oblivion’s Tom DiCillo that only uses footage shot between 1966 and 1971 to tell its story. The Lizard King’s musical journey is as intriguing as it is legendary.

Yes, you got to be legendary for a restaurant to want to put up a memorial plaque marking the exact spot on its bar where you peed in the 1960s! This forthcoming plaque is indeed a birthday present to Morrison. And to mark the event Barney’s is also throwing a birthday bash for the Lizard King. Classic rock DJs, KLOS’s Jim Ladd, will host and broadcast live from the event. Morrison’s bandmates Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger will attend the show and lead Barney’s owner David Houston to the spot Morrison marked for himself.

Yes, the place is as wacky as the man himself. No doubt that his grave has to be protected by guards to stop people from decorating it with urine, whiskey and dope joints on it.
