Terminator Salvation star Roland Kickinger spent the night at Bappi Lahiri’s house after terrorists struck

Hollywood action star Roland Kickinger, who is playing the robot T-800 in the hugely anticipated 2009 release Terminator Salvation, was was attending fitness guru Bikram Choudhury’s event at the JW Marriott hotel on Wedesday night when the terror strike began.

Roland, who was staying at the Sahara Star Hotel, didn’t return  to his room that night. Instead he went over to Bappi Lahirir’s residence near JW Marriott to sleep over.

Bikram, an internationally known yoga guru who is reported to have trained the likes of Michael Jackson, George Harrison, John McEnroe and even Dharmendra among others, had around 30 people, mostly foreigners, including Roland with him. At around 9:30 pm, more guests started coming in — Anil Kapoor, the entire Mukherjee family, Gulshan Grover, Manisha Koirala, Jackie Shroff, and others.

Bikram recounted that night’s saga to After Hours over phone from Kolkata: “Half an hour into the event and we got the news that Mumbai has been attacked by terrorists.

Gulshan informed me about this news. We also got to know that big hotels in Mumbai were prime targets. We had to cut short our event and we packed up. We were told to leave JW immediately but when we left, we heard that there was a blast in front of Sahara Star, where we were lodged. So we couldn’t go back to our hotel either.

Where could we have gone? Bappi Lahiri came to our rescue and took us to his place. But strangely Roland was all cool. When we were panicking and did not sleep at all, he (Roland) managed to get a good night’s sleep.”

Bikram adds that after assessing the security situation in Mumbai, they decided to send Roland and other foreigners out of the country.

“We could not risk keeping him and other foreigners in the city after we heard that the terrorists were asking people who were from US and UK and then shooting them dead. There were also reports that some terrorists were at large in the city,” said Bikram.

After spending another day in Mumbai, Roland took a flight to Singapore on Friday night.
