With a few months left for general elections to take place, Karat seemed gung-ho about the party's performance in the polls.
Speaking to DNA here on Saturday, Karat, who was here to participate in a function organized by the Mysore faction of his party said, the Congress-led UPA government 'doesn't stand a chance' in the general elections.
"They will pay for their misdeeds and people will vote them out of power. What we need to see is that no communal party (read BJP) sits in the chair. We are confident of a good performance," he said, refusing to hazard a guess on number of seats it hoped to win.
On Karnakata, Karat said the party was coming up with a strategy to tackle the organisational problems. Responding to a query on why states ruled by CPI (M) such as West Bengal and Kerala failed to draw investment by their own people, Karat disagreed. Kolkata had seen internal investors - Bengali speaking Marwaris -investing in developmental projects, and Kerala too attracts huge investments from outside the state.'
