MALEGAON: Bandh was observed on Thursday in the powerloom town of Malegaon in response to the shutdown call given by all parties to protest manhandling of five officer bearers of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, by the police.
Sunil Gaikwad, Suresh Gawali and three other MNS activists were allegedly roughed up by the policemen on Tuesday when they staged a road blockade at Manmad square following the arrest of their leader Raj Thackeray in Ratnagiri, sources said.
The decision effecting the shutdown was taken late on Wednesday night at a all party meeting held here, they added.
