BANGALORE: Country's second largest software exporter Infosys on Wednesday said it will focus on the Indian market in a big way as the technology spending in India is on the rise.

"In India technology expenditure is on the upswing and we think its the right time to enter India," Infosys COO S D Shibulal said, while talking about the growing focus on the Indian market.

"We have really entered the domestic market in the last six months (apart from Finacle)", he said and Infosys was now exploring the private sector, government and banking to drive the domestic market growth.

In reply to a question on Infosys partnering with Airtel in the backdrop of financial crisis in the US, he said  "We believe in entering a country when it is right for us. We entered Canada and we are doing well. We entered Australia and are doing well. We have entered Japan and it has begun doing well".

The company on Wednesday announced its partnership with Bharti Airtel in the media space.

Sounding bullish about the Indian market he said, "We have different strategy for different markets and pricing is different for different countries. We are focusing on emerging markets, including India".

The IT firm, he said, had seen a good last quarter in terms of revenue growth and customer relationship but had chosen to revise its guidance in the wake of US scenario.

However, the IT firm, he said was not "laying off people". Rather, it planned to recruit 25,000 people this year.

Shibulal said Infosys also hoping to bring down attrition rate. "We wanted it to be in single digit", he said.
