PANAJI: The German consulate has appealed to the Goa government not to compromise with the security of German researcher and her minor daughter, allegedly raped by the son of state's education minister.

"I would be most grateful if you could ensure that criminal investigation is pursued vigorously and that the safety of (Fadela) Fuchs and her daughter not compromised," Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany Walter Stechel wrote in a letter to the state chief secretary J P Singh on Tuesday.

The letter came on the day when police were searching for 21-year-old Rohit, son of Goa Education Minister Atanasio Monserratte, who has been accused by German mother of raping her minor daughter in Goa.

"Consul General have been seized of the matter and we have been following the case with great concern," the letter reads.

Fuchs, who had lodged a complaint with Calangute police station on October 2, had also informed the consulate about the incident.

Though, the police booked Rohit only on Tuesday of raping, outraging modesty, abetting the crime and sending lewd messages to the minor German girl.

The police had also charged Monserratte of abetting the crime as the mobile phone connection used by Rohit is in the name of his father.

Police has not yet managed to nab Rohit despite the searches conducted on the bungalows owned by the Monserrattes.
