Couple gets life sentence

ROURKELA: A couple was sentences to life imprisonment by a Sundergarh based judicial court for killing a five-year-old girl in their neighbourhood in 2007.
    
The additional district judge (adj) Madhumita Das in her judgement found guilty of one iswar barik and his wife, Subhadra Barik of Mahakalpada village in Sundergarh district during the trial and has also imposed a fine of Rs ten thousand each. The convicted couple will face an additional one more year RI on default.
    
According to prosecution, the Barik couple had throttled to death of the child, Dash, daughter of their neighbour, Hiradhar Barik on september, 15,2007 to settle the score of past enemity. Talasara police had earlier arrested the couple and prosecuted them under sections 302 and 201 IPC.
    
The judge had examined atleast 13 witnesses and an eye-witness of the brutal incident during the trial. 

In an another judgement, the additonal district judge, Das has sentenced ten years RI To Birsa Kishan (55), on the charge of raping a 7-year-old girl of Talasara village under Bhasma police limit on August 18, 2007.
    
Kishan had cajoled the girl on the pretext of offering chocolate and took her to a lonely place on the outside the village and committed the crime.
