AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the Nanavati Commission report has brought out "the truth" regarding the Godhra train carnage and "torn the mask of pseudo-secularists" who were "defaming" Gujarat for the past six years.

"Those who were trying to protect the perpetrators of the Godhra carnage should apologise to the people of Gujarat now," Modi said at a function organised by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation to unveil the statue of Deendayal Upadhyay.

Targetting Congress, Modi said that "by opposing the tabling of the Part-I of the Godhra report in the assembly, the opposition, which has worked to save those involved in the train burning incident, has shown that they cannot digest the truth revealed in the report".

Part-I of the Godhra Commission report, which was tabled in the House yesterday, said the S-6 coach of Sabarmati Express burning incident was a 'pre-planned conspiracy' and gave a clean chit to Modi, his ministers and Gujarat police in handling post-Godhra riots.

Modi said "we remained silent even as an all-out attack was carried out against us as a part of an international conspiracy by pseudo-secularists. We listened to each and every allegation and abuses hurled toward us".

"I had told them at time that they should wait for the report of the inquiry commission," he said.

Modi said that even after the report has been released the "pseudo-secularists" have started making political allegations about it.
