Fake doctor sentenced to two-year jail term

A local court on Tuesday sentenced a fake doctor to two years imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on him.

BANGALORE: A local court on Tuesday sentenced a fake doctor to two years imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on him.
   
The imposter, Salim (37) was sentenced to two years imprisonment by the eighth Additional Chief Magistrate's Court here.
   
Pretending to be a doctor in a premier hospital in the city, Salim on January 16, 2008 stole the gold bangles of a woman patient who was admitted for delivery and lost her child
   
Donning the doctor's uniform, he consoled Nargis Baig and asked her to remove her bangles and keep it under a pillow, as she had to be taken for a test.
   
The gullible woman did so and salim fled the spot with the bangles.
   
He was however immediately arrested and chargesheeted by the police.
