AHMEDABAD: A stray dog roaming free in the country’s premier management institute, IIM-Ahmedabad, has been snapping at passers-by on the campus. So far, about eight people have fallen victim to the  voracious canine and its hunger doesn’t seem to have satiated as yet.

Professor AN Mathur said, “My housekeeper was bitten by the black dog on Tuesday last and had to be rushed for a rabies vaccine.”

Many other people were also reportedly bitten by the dog on that very day.
“I know about five people whom the dog bit, while there are talks about eight to 10 more are also suffering.”

Wife of a senior professor who was also attacked by the dog said, “My husband was taking his morning walk at around 5.30 when the dog stealthily came from behind and bit him in the leg.”

Although she remained uncertain about the exact number of victims of  dog bite, she said there were many others who were suffering.

Stray dogs on the campus have become a nuisance for both students and professors.
“I was also bitten last year in my leg and had to get a rabies vaccine,” the professor’s wife said.

Looking at the number of dog bite incidents, it did not come as a surprise that the dispensary on the campus ran out of vaccines and had to order for more from medical stores.
