CHENNAI: AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa on Monday asserted she did not send party workers for Karseva before the Babri Masjid emolition and described Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's remarks in this regard as 'far from truth'.
'Can he prove the charge.I categorically deny that I have sent party volunteers to participate in the Karseva', she said in a statement.
She said Karunanidhi had made similar charges previously also but she had been denying it."He has been constantly making this baseless allegation against the AIADMK', she said.
Asked for his comments on the left parties remarks that they would consider aligning with the AIADMK, if it announced its commitment to secular principles, Karunanidhi said here on saturday that AIADMK was not secular as it had sent its volunteers for Karseva. It was the AIADMK which enacted a law against religious conversion, he had said.
Replying to another remark by Karunanidhi that his party would admit Jayalalithaa also if she wanted to join, Jayalalithaa said time was not far off when members of Karunanidhi's family and 'his sycophants' would offer to join her party. 'This is going to happen certainly as the days of the Karunanidhi ministry are numbered', she said.
