KOLKATA: The West Bengal government might challenge the recent observations of the Calcutta high court on the alleged suicide of graphics designer Rizwanur Rahman, the husband of industrialist Ashoke Todi’s daughter, Priyanka.

A final decision in regard will be taken only after the high court gives its final verdict on this matter, which is expected next week.

The high court on August 12 directed the CBI to file chargesheet against seven accused for abetting Rizwanur’s suicide, which included members of Todi families and some police officers.

According to sources in the state government, they are waiting for the final verdict of the high court in this regard and immediately after that, a petition will be filed in a higher court. The state government is consulting legal experts in this regard.

It is learnt that the state government will mainly challenge those observations which hold direct criticisms against the state government departments for “mishandling” the case.
