NEW DELHI: With separatists in Kashmir valley drawing crowds and finding new support among the people, the BJP on Tuesday told them to take a look at the plight of Kashmiris in Pakistan before they raise such demands.

“Pakistan occupied Kashmir is completely lacking in democracy, people suffer oppression and have no voice,” said BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad, citing a 2007 report of the European Parliament to buttress his argument.

“There is no Article 370 there, no special status and Pakistan is changing the demography by settling people from other parts,” said Prasad to urge that those demanding “azadi” should take a look at the condition of their brethren in PoK.

The report says India has set up democratic structures at all levels, while Pakistan has not implemented democracy in the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
