BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Police on Wednesday denied reports that it would probe how Bollywood starlet Monica Bedi managed to get a role in the 'Bigg Boss' reality show.

"Reports appearing in the media about the police probing how Monica got a role in the reality show were baseless", Bhopal police chief Jaideep Prasad said.

Bedi was extradited along with gangster Abu Salem from Portugal in 2005 and lodged in the Central Jail here in a fake passport case. A magistrate's court and a sessions court acquitted her and the prosecution has appealed this in the high court. She had taught yoga, dancing and English to women prisoners while in jail.

Actor Shilpa Shetty-hosted 'Bigg Boss', which has 14 participants, is being aired on newly-launched TV channel Colors from August 17.

Monica has acted in about a dozen films like 'Pyaar, Ishq Aur Mohabbat', 'Jaanam Samjha Karo', 'Kaala Samrajya', 'Tirchhi Topiwale', 'Jodi No1', 'Khilona' and 'Aashiq Mastana'.

There have been reports that Monica had used her alleged underworld connections to break into Bollywood.
