NEW DELHI: CPI-M General Secretary Prakash Karat has earned appreciation from an unexpected quarter -- the RSS has justified the Marxist leader's "anger" towards Congress and praised him for pulling out from the UPA government.

An editorial in the latest issue of RSS mouthpiece 'Organiser' has said that Karat was "right" in withdrawing support to the Congress- led UPA government on the Indo-US nuclear deal.

"The CPM General Secretary Prakash Karat has reasons to be fuming. He has accused the Congress of humiliating his party and betraying its trust. He is right," it said.

The editorial accused the Congress of not extending the required courtesy towards Left parties and charged the ruling party of lying to its coalition partners.

"The Congress did not extend the courtesy of showing the Left, the original draft of the deal. It is a public document. It was on the IAEA website since July 9," it added.

"The Congress lied to the CPI-M that the safeguards agreement was a secret document and that only the members of the Cabinet can see it," the editorial said.

The editorial also sought to wonder why the Congress sidelined the Left at this juncture.

"But why? Is the Congress so fed up with the Left shenanigans? Is the deal so great to stake the government?" it asked.

The editorial accuses the Left parties of pursuing a policy of "political untouchability" and said the relationship between the UPA and the Left was based on "negativism."
