MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government on Wednesday declared a "drought-like" situation in the state.
The state cabinet took the decision at a meeting in view of below-average rainfall in many regions.
This, the cabinet said, has resulted in only 29 percent of sowing possible so far.
Much of the seed sown had gone waste, particularly in the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions, a government spokesperson said.
