Infant dies after being fed milk

SURAT: An infant at a women's protection home here died on Saturday within minutes of being fed milk, an official said.

45-day-old Sanket died within minutes after being fed.

The baby was handed over to Nari Sanrakshan Gruh 20 days ago by its mother, saying it was an unwanted delivery as she was unmarried.

Kalpana, in charge of the home, said that Sanket was fed with milk on Saturday morning. Then milk began coming out of the child's nose. The child was taken to hospital where it was pronounced dead.

Rohit Bhingadia, who conducted the autopsy, said death could have occurred due to some disease. However, the viscera has been sent for further investigation.
