CHENNAI: Chennai-based Lifeline Group of Hospitals has entered into a pact with Temple University,
Philadelphia, US, for generating funds to offer free paediatric heart surgeries to 200 children in Tamil Nadu.
Lifeline and Temple University will also conduct periodic academic exchange programmes for the doctors and conduct paediatric heart surgeries for the economically-weaker sections of society, hospital chairman J S Rajkumar said.
Under the memorandum of understanding, a team headed by P Russo of Temple University and N Kapadia of the Lifeline's paediatric heart programme, would conduct around 200 paediatric heart surgeries in a year.
"An amount of around Rs two lakh is usually required for complex surgeries and the Tamil Nadu government meets 20 per cent of the costs," Rajkumar said.
