The body of Feroz Sikandar Khan, 39, an estate agent who went missing on June 10, was found in the lift well of a building at Mira Road on Thursday.

Khan had not returned home after leaving for a business meeting with another estate agent, Anand Lal, at Mercury Apartments in Queens Park, Mira Road.

When Khan’s family asked him, Lal said the broker left for home after the meeting. Khan’s family lodged a missing complaint the next day.

On Thursday, at about 9:30pm, Lal contacted the Mira Road police and told them that Khan’s corpse was found lying in the lift well of his building.

According to Lal, the body was spotted by a resident who investigated a foul smell in the area. The corpse was bloated when it was extricated from the well.

Khan lived in the Gaurav Regency complex at Mira Road. He was associated with big names in the construction industry in Mira Road and Vasai. He had played an active role in some of the biggest land deals in these areas.

A source said Khan was associated with gangster Dawood Ibrahim and also had some criminal cases registered against him at Vasai and Andheri.

Police have registered a case of accidental death but have not ruled out murder. “Further action will be taken after getting the post-mortem report,” a police officer said.
