MUMBAI: On the second anniversary for the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, Raj Thackeray defended the fact that he had asked people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to adjust to the local culture and the way of living in Maharashtra.

He said, “For me, a Marathi manoos is one who will say ‘jai’ when I recite the slogan ‘Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj ki.’ Mumbai is an integral part of the state and is not for building tabelas for these bhaiyas. There are others living in our state but they don't show their power, unlike bhaiyas and Biharis who show their power through chaat pujas.” He also offered the people of Maharashtra a unique defense tactic. “People tell me that any one can live anywhere according to our Constitution, but even in our own housing society, we disallow children from other societies. Aren’t these children also Indians? Then if I ask people from leaving my Maharashtra society, then what have I done wrong? If you face injustice, just kick the offenders, whoever they may be.”

He also attacked Samajwadi Party spokesperson Amar Singh, actor Amitabh Bachchan and railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav.  “Amar Singh is a frog. He shoots his mouth off. My activists were accused of throwing bottles on Bachchan's bungalow. If they have to throw something, they will throw cans, not bottles.” Thackeray also taunted Bachchan saying that he should endorses the advertisement for polio drop in Utter Pradesh instead of Mumbai, as the health minister, Ambumani Ramados, has given a report that the maximum number of polio victims in India are in Uttar Pradesh.
