Year after year the fashion week showcases great promising talent. And this year is no exception. There will be seven new designers making their debut. We tap the new emerging designers and quiz them about their creations

Showcasing: The duo will be showcasing the Autumn Winter Collection which mostly consists of silhouettes and garments — skirts, tops, flowy dresses and gowns.
Inspiration for the collection: The designers have created their designs after combing reports from various global fashion forecasting agencies such as WSGN.
Would like to dress up: Rachel Weisz

Geetika Gulia
Showcasing: Women’s wear
Inspiration for the collection: Dates back to the 60s sense of style and fashion along with that of the Japanese Geisha. The inspiration for the creation lies in pleatings, gatherings and all drapes such as window curtains. Also inspired by Origami and the Japanese designer Isseymiyake
Would like to dress up: Nicole Kidman

Manish Gupta
Showcasing: All ivory line this season and all in shades of cream.
Collection is be a fusion of Indo Western. The theme of the same is ‘The Unspoken’.
Inspiration for the collection: Mime, where there is lots of
 action but no words. Similarly, in the collection, action is depicted in the form of embroidery.
Would like to dress up: Rani Mukherji

Abhishek Byas
Showcasing: The creations reflect the ideas of the youth who want to give back something to Kolkata and the country.
Inspiration for the collection: Is the ‘adda’ culture where people sit and exchange notes over a ’cuppa chai. The garments draw stimulation from Bengali scholars.
Would like to dress up: Penelope Cruz and Kareena Kapoor

Vishvajeet Dhir
Showcasing: The entire collection would focus on women’s wear. Also the emphasis is on comfort and durability. The garments are wearable and have a hint of the romantic era in them.
Inspiration for the collection: Drawn shades from the human anatomy and 18th century clothing that will make clothing for a lazy summer day by the lake.
Would like to dress up: Scarlett Johansson

Jenjum Gadi and Jasleen:
Showcasing: Winter clothing without much embroidery, the outfits would stress more on the texture and feel.
Inspiration for the collection: After studying various textures from varied backgrounds such as the weave of a basket to the petals of a flower or the red hued bricks, the garments are designed.
Would like to dress up: Angelina Jolie and Shabana Azmi

Neelanjan Ghosh
Showcasing: The collection is titled ‘Who has spoken of the unicorn in old age’.
Inspiration for the collection: From May Sartons poetry on old age homes, “Who has spoken of the unicorn in old age?” in letters from Maine, 1984. The poem talks about positive aspect of old age and how the elders have adapted to the negligence and enjoy the final phase of their lives.
Would like to dress: Gwen Stefani
