Praise the CM for 99% discount on hoardings

AHEMDABAD: Those wanting to pay tribute to Narendra Modi do not have to pay too dearly; the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation subsidises CM-worship to the extent of 99%. For as less as Rs500 per flattering billboard, Modi loyalists have signalled exuberant respect for their leader in 200 AMC hoardings across Ahmedabad’s prime locations. The real value of hoardings ranges between Rs5,000 and Rs50,000 per month! 

When Modi took the chief ministerial berth for the third term this December, his loyalists put forward a proposal to the BJP-ruled AMC to acquire locations for installing the laudatory hoardings. The municipal corporation’s standing committee gave its consent and set a token price of Rs501 per hoarding.

The hoardings have been put up at the city’s prime intersections, such as Parimal crossroad, Polytechnic crossroad, Iskcon crossroad, Bodakdev crossroad and at various locations on Ashram Road. Most hoardings have large pictures of Modi, and effusive congratulations offered by the members of the Karnavati Club, the Rifle Club, Ahmedabad District Co-operative Bank and other institutions.

“The proposal for installing 200 hoardings featuring Modi at a token cost was accepted by the AMC standing committee,” said Girish Dani, the chairman of Karnavati Club and a member of the BJP. “The municipal corporation passed our resolution because it is meant for a public cause and not for commercial benefit,”  he added.
