She thought that getting a job in a chartered accountancy (CA) firm will  help her lend a supportive hand to her father in running their family.

However, little did she realise that it was a trap which her father’s friend Satish Sahil, 32, had laid.

Sahil took the 19-year-old to a lodge near Marve Road in Malad under false pretences where she was allegedly raped for an hour on Friday morning. The girl’s parents came to know about the incident in the evening when she returned home.

A complaint was lodged with the Powai police on Friday evening. According to the police, the victim’s parent started a manhunt for Sahil who was nabbed from a Andheri locality.

They informed the police who then arrested Sahil. He has been charged under Sections 366 (any other method of compulsion, induces any woman to go from any place with intent that she may be, or knowing that it is likely she will be, forced or seduced to illicit intercourse), 376 (rape), of the Indian Penal Code and remanded to police custody till January 29.

The medical report confirmed that the suspect had raped the girl. On Friday morning, the victim, a second-year graduate, was getting ready to attend college lectures, “When Sahil visited my residence at 7am and informed my daughter that he will get her a job in a CA firm and told her to meet him at Shopper’s Stop, Andheri. She was then taken to a lodge where she was repeatedly raped,” the victim’s father, Bajrang Pawar, told DNA.

Pawar said that he knows Sahil for the past four years and never thought that he will spoil his daughter’s future. “Three year ago, he had raped a minor girl from the same locality and threatened her family with dire consequences not to inform any one. The girl then committed suicide after she consumed poison,” Pawar alleged.

Police are investigating the case and are trying to get Sahil’s past record. “He threatened the family that if they approached the police, they will have to face dire consequences,” said Rajdoot Rupwate, senior police inspector, Powai police station.
