MUMBAI: In a first of its kind in public-private partnership model, leading logistics company Gati Ltd has tied up with Air India to lease five cargo freighter aircraft.

The deal for the five B 737-200s will provide an edge to Gati in the airfreight logistics because of Air India's biggest network.

While two such freighters have been launched, others will be in place by June 2008. Each such aircraft will have a joint logo of Gati and Air India.

In a bid to provide faster complaint, Gati will also inaugurate its centralised call centre at Nagpur on Friday.

The call centre will cater to all markets and can take up to 400 agents and 50 remote locations.

Nagpur will also be the centralised distribution centre for Gati which will place the town as a central hub for both its surface and air express operations.

With a staff of 6,400 professionals, the company expects to achieve the Rs 1,000-crore mark by 2009.
