Nair’s date with Sharon Stone

The Hollywood diva will come down to be a special guest at the screening of Mira Nair’s ‘AIDS Jagoo’

If all goes well, Mira Nair will have a very special guest at the screening of her film ‘AIDS Jagoo’ at the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). And it will be none other than Hollywood diva Sharon Stone who will be a part of the film festival.

The film fest begins in Dubai from December 3 and will go on till December 16. Sharon who is on the board of the American Foundation of AIDS research (amFAR) will attend the festival with respect to a worldwide AIDS awareness campaign by the foundation.

Says Abdul Hamid Juma, chairman, DIFF, “Indian films have always been of utmost importance at DIFF and ‘AIDS Jagoo’ along with other Indian films like  Shivaji Chandrabhushan’s ‘Frozen’ and Adoor Gopalkrishnan’s ‘Four Women’, Santosh Sivan’s ‘Before the Rains’ will be one of the most essential screenings at the festival. Also it is AIDS awareness week in Dubai at that point and a  personality like Sharon Stone will  definitely attract a lot of attention towards the cause. May be Sharon can actually catch her film on the subject.”

DIFF, who have felicitated Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Subhash Ghai and Yash Chopra in the last three years, are planning to honour a prominent Bollywood personality this year too. Other international personalities who will be present at the festival include designer Kenneth Cole, Michelle Yeoh.
