Starlet Janhvi held for suicide bid released

MUMBAI: Aspiring actor and model Janhvi Kapoor was released on Saturday after being in preventive detention for nearly 12 hours.

Janhvi, who raked a controversy during the mega marriage bash of Abhishek Bachchan with Aishwarya Rai on Friday by her unaborted suicide bid, had been arrested on charges under section 309 (attempt to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code.

She was produced before the city court the same day.

However, she was later released on bail for a sum of Rs10,000. "Janhvi Kapoor was taken into preventive custody at 0130 hrs on Saturday, but was released this afternoon," a Juhu police said.

The 26-year-old model-actor also featured in Abhishek starrer 'Dus'.

The actor had alleged that Abhishek had 'promised' to marry her, but later backtracked from his 'promise'.
