NEW DELHI: The rape capital of the country added another ignominious chapter to its annals, when the alleged molestation of a nine-year-old girl by her yoga instructor came to light.
The class IV student of the elite Delhi Public School, Ghaziabad, was allegedly being molested by her yoga instructor Rakesh Tripathi for over two months, but complained to her parents only recently, who immediately reported it to the principal.
As if his heinous crime was not enough, the sacked instructor and his accomplices then assaulted the school principal when she refused to reinstate him.
The incident took place on Wednesday after Tripathi was asked to leave by the school after the girl’s parents informed the principal about the molestation. Tripathi along with his wife Ritu, who also works in the same school, went to meet principal Mita Rai asking her to reinstate him in the school.
“Reinstating the teacher was impossible and I told them that a decision was already taken by the school board. Above all, seeing the nature of he complaint we could have taken any chances,” Rai said. The couple’s children study for free in same school, under the school’s rules which allow free education for teachers’ children.
“But when I came out of my office after telling them we will let their children remain in the school and continue to provide them free education, the couple attacked me,” said Rai.
Rai added that Ritu followed and attacked her from behind and even banged her head on the floor. The principal further added that Ritu and her friend Jaya Mishra beat her up, while five to six men, all goons brought by Rakesh, surrounded her.
A case has been registered against Rakesh. In the past four months alone, there have been 330 cases of rape and molestation reported in the capital.
