Businessman shot dead in South Delhi

NEW DELHI: A businessman was shot dead on Monday morning by three motorcycle-borne men in the national capital.
 
Arun Gupta (47), who owns an electronic goods shop in Chandni Chowk, was on his way to his establishment in his car when the unidentified trio waylaid him and pumped two bullets into his body, a senior police official said.
  
The incident took place about 100 metres from Gupta's residence at around 10 a.m. in Kalkaji area of South Delhi, the official said.
  
Some passers-by even tried to stop the attackers but they fled the scene, he said.
  
Gupta was rushed to nearby Holy Family Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
  
Police is investigating whether the deceased was involved in any dispute with anyone.
       
A case has been registered, he said, adding a probe is on to ascertain the identity of the attackers.
