LONDON: Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, was discharged on Sunday afternoon after spending three nights in King Edward VII's Hospital here, where doctors monitored his condition for chest congestion.
      
Eighty-six-year-old Philip had been admitted last week after developing a heavy cold which caused him to cancel a number of engagements.
      
Royal officials said Prince Philip's stay was a precautionary measure and not an emergency.
      
The Duke of Edinburgh's engagements for tomorrow have been cancelled.
 
Last week, he could not attend a memorial service for Everest hero Sir Edmund Hillary.
      
His last official public role was during French President Nicolas Sarkozy's state visit to Britain on March 26.
