MALDA: A child trafficking racket was busted here on Thursday after 11 children were rescued by Government Railway Police from Malda Town Railway station.

Police said that GRP personnel became suspicious when they found the children in the age-group of 8-14 loitering in the platform.

On being questioned, the children said they were being taken by Malda-Howrah passenger train on way to Delhi by 'some persons, but they were not found at the spot'.

"The children, all from Ratua in Malda district, were being taken out of Malda to Delhi to be engaged as contract labour or domestic help after making payment to their parents", police said.

The GRP said that they had called the parents for handing over the children.

Police were looking for the gang involved in the child trafficking.
