Four drunk men dragged BPO employee into vehicle

NEW DELHI: Living up to the image of the capital being an unsafe city, a 21-year-old woman was dragged into a jeep by four drunk men and assaulted in the wee hours of Monday while she was returning home with her friend.

Hours after the incident, the police have yet not been able to find out the whereabouts of the men or even identify the accused.

The horrifying incident took place in Pitampura area, in west Delhi. The woman, Pallavi and her friend, Abhishek, were returning home from a pub in Gurgaon when four drunk men speeding in a pick-up van suddenly started to chase them.
The victim and her friend work at the same BPO company, police said.

“The brawl started when the four men tried to overtake their motorbike and started passing lewd remarks at the woman,” said Sanjay Kumar, additional deputy commissioner of police.

“When the woman’s friend objected to their behaviour, the men stopped their jeep in front of the bike and started beating him with rods,” the officer added.

Police said that the four men then dragged the woman inside the jeep and drove around the city for more than an hour. The four drunkards then dropped the woman close to the place where she was abducted.

“The woman went home although we had received a complaint by Abhishek and had started the search. She had received wounds on her body as she was beaten up and assaulted by the four men,” the officer further said.
