Fake moviemaker abused 16 boys offering them roles in a tele film

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The headmaster of a government school in Alapuzha district has been suspended for letting a man abuse students. Police, however, are clueless about the culprit, who allegedly abused 16 boys from the government upper primary school in Naluchira offering them roles in a tele film. They only know he is Biju from Ernakulam.

District deputy director of education C Jnaneswari suspended K Sajeev pending probe for allowing Biju to make the tele film casting schoolchildren. The headmaster had not obtained permission from the education department or the parent-teacher association before giving the go-ahead to the ‘filmmaker’.

Biju, who came to the school on January 9, convinced the teachers he was a filmmaker on the lookout for boys to cast in a tele film. He spoke to teachers and students and left his mobile number with them, in case they were interested. Later, the headmaster facilitated an interaction between the “filmmaker” and his potential actors.

The suspect then rented a house near the school, where he stayed to “work on the script of the film”. He had befriended the boys and many of them were invited to take part in the work. He abused at least 16 children, until a teacher grew suspicious and questioned a boy. The police were alerted, but the culprit fled. The police said they only had a name and a vague profile picture from a footage shot during the interaction at the school.

The Kerala Students Union, a feeder organisation of the Congress, took out a rally in Ambalapuzha on Monday demanding ouster of the teachers. Even the ruling CPI(M) has reined in its local unit which was initially protecting Sajeev, a member of the party-affiliated teachers’ union.
