Indian's lack knowledge about Web risks: Survey

MUMBAI: A large number of Indian professionals do not have any knowledge about web security, findings of a survey conducted by a global web security major, has revealed.
  
The survey, 'State of Security' (SOS), was conducted among 450 business organisations in all metros of the country by 'Websense'.
  
According to its findings, released here on Tuesday, a large number of professionals use their personal e-mail ID for official correspondence, with Delhi leading the habit at 63 per cent.
   
Bangalore led the country (17 per cent) in the number of employees who clicked on links on e-mails from unknown sources. A majority (57 per cent) of employees feared that leaking company information and infecting their company with spyware or viruses will lead to them being sacked, followed by viewing adult content (31 per cent) and not adhering to their organization's internet policies (20 per cent).
  
Correspondingly, 48 per cent of managers believed that the web was the prime source of infection, followed by e-mails (46 per cent).  
   
The survey also revealed that employees spent on an average 5 hours of their working hours on non-work related web sites every week, incurring losses to their employers to the tune of Rs 1.60 lakh per employee every year, added the release.
