Charges framed against textile baron's son in rape case

MUMBAI: A local court on Friday framed charges against Abhishek Kasliwal, son of textile mill owner Ambuj Kasliwal, for allegedly raping a 52-year-old woman in his car in the Shriram Mill's premises at Worli here on March 11, last year.
  
Additional Sessions Judge K U Chandiwal framed charges under section 376 (rape) and 506 (II) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and fixed February 25 for the commencement of trial.  
  
Abhishek (27), whose father is the owner of Shriram Mills, was arrested on March 12, 2007.
  
According to the victim, the accused had offered her a lift to Mumbai Central near Prince of Wales Museum in Colaba. Instead, he took her to the Shriram Mills Compound in Worli and allegedly raped her repeatedly on the backseat of his car and later dumped her in the Colaba area.
  
In June last year, police had filed a 250-page chargesheet against Abhishek, with the help of 15 witnesses, including three eye-witnesses.
 
Two of the eye-witnesses, watchmen of Sriram Mills, told police that they had seen Abhishek entering the Mill with a woman in his car late on March 11, 2007.
  
The chargesheet also contains the forensic reports, medical and chemical analysis reports of used condoms found in the car and reports of narco-analysis tests conducted on the accused in a Bangalore laboratory.
