SURI (West Bengal): Trinamool Congress president Mamata Banerjee on Thursday ruled out any poll alliance with either the BJP or the Congress for the upcoming Panchayat elections in West Bengal.
''We can not have any poll partnership with the Congress as the latter is supported by the CPI(M) at the Centre to run the United Progressive Allaince Government in New Delhi'', Banerjee told her party supporters at a workers meeting here, about 30 kms north of Bolpur.
''We are not against the left parties. We are against the Left Front as because the CPI(M) is in the Front'', the Trinamool Congress supremo said.
Seaking about recent violence in North Bengal, Ms Banerjee said, the Dinata police firing was not a new thing as the CPI(M) was now depending much on police force as its base among the people was weakening day by day.
''It has become a habit on the part of police force to fire upon unamred people'' citing instances of Medinipur, Bankura and elsewhere in the state, Banerjee added.
