MUMBAI: The third leg of the BT-Honda Pro-Am of Champions is all set to tee off at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club here on Saturday.

The prestigious event, which is into its 13th year, is the only stand-alone Pro-Am on the Indian professional golf circuit.

The field comprises of a heady mixture of top-notch CEOs and club members who would be vying for honours in this prestigious event, which is sponsored by Honda SIEL Cars India, one of the largest car manufacturers and co-sponsored by Avaya Global Connect & ITC Hotels Ltd. ColorPlus are the styling partners.

The four-legged event teed off in Bangalore and visited Kolkata before reaching Mumbai. The respective winners from each zone will then travel to New Delhi to take part in a ‘grand final’ to be held at the Classic Golf Resort on March 9 where the country’s top 20 professionals will also be seen in action.

The Mumbai leg will see an elite field including the likes of Bharat Patel of P&G, Punit Chadha of HSBC, Praveen Sachdev of Crompton Greaves, Anil Kapur of Western Union, Ajay Chauhan, R Swaminathan of Essar amongst others.

The tournament will be played in three handicap categories: 0-8, 9-16 and 17-24. The respective winner from each category will be eligible for the grand final. The scoring will be on a stableford format with their handicaps reduced to ¾ for scoring purposes.

Apart from the main trophies, a mega prize of a brand new Honda CRV car will be awarded to the first player to card a hole-in-one on the par-3 hole No 6. There has not been a single taker in the tournament’s 12-year history and hopefully a Mumbaikar may drive away with the luxury car.

Apart form the hole-in-one prize, the players will be tested in all departments of the game such as the Avaya Closest to Pin (Hole No 2), Business Today Longest Drive (Hole No 18), and the Straightest Drive (Hole No 3).
